Following a programme of refurbishments at Castletown, a magnificent Georgian house in the Palladian style, the Office of Public Works and the Irish Government have invited Barry Douglas, one of Ireland’s leading cultural ambassadors, and his chamber orchestra Camerata Ireland, to take up residence at Castletown and to perform there on a regular basis during the year. This supports the policy of the Office of Public Works to develop Castletown’s role as a collaborator with other cultural and heritage bodies.
Barry Douglas and the orchestra are delighted to respond to this invitation to establish their home at Castletown and unveil the programme for their inaugural year in 2008.
