Orchestral life is nothing new for Malcolm Neale and Hugh Carslaw, the Joint Chief Executives of Camerata Ireland. Both have recently relinquished full-time playing posts with the Ulster Orchestra to concentrate their efforts on driving Camerata Ireland to further success.

Both long-term friends of Barry Douglas, it was these two who helped him get the Camerata Ireland dream off the ground when it was first formed in 1998.
‘This is a very different way of life for us,’ said Malcolm recently, ‘but one we have looked forward to for some time. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time with the Ulster Orchestra and hope that we can find ways of collaborating with them on future projects’.

But for now the priorities are over-seeing the American Tour and firming up the schedule for 2006. ‘Orchestras generally plan their activities at least two if not three years ahead’, says Hugh. ‘Now we can concentrate our efforts on Camerata Ireland we shall be looking to do this too’.
