Barry Douglas and Camerata Ireland's first two albums in the cycle, Concertos 2 & 4 (SR051), released for their October 2005 US tour, and concertos 1 & 5 (SR063), were both widely acclaimed in the international press, including eulogistic reviews in Gramophone and BBC Music.

Camerata Ireland was formed by Barry Douglas in 1999.Their inaugural concerts were given at the Stormont Parliament Buildings in Belfast and the State Apartments in Dublin. Both concerts were presented in association with Co-operation Ireland, the leading charity working to bring a lasting peace to the island of Ireland, which inspired Barry Douglas to create the ensemble. The orchestra brings together fine Irish musicians from both the North and the South who hold top positions in orchestras such as the Halle, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra, with a number of exceptional young Irish musicians, some already on the way to solo careers.

Barry Douglas enjoys a major international career which has developed worldwide since he won the Gold Medal at the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano competition in Moscow. He is particularly known for his performances of the large-scale Romantic repertoire including Brahms, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky and he also excels in less familiar concerti such as those by Reger, Britten and Corigliano.

Both Chee-Yun and Andrés Díaz have a long-standing artistic relationship with Barry Douglas. Chee-Yun's career highlights are performances across three continents of the Penderecki Concerto No. 2 with the composer at the podium, and the US première of the Penderecki Sonata No. 2 with Barry Douglas at the Kennedy Center.

Andrés Díaz is regular chamber music partner of Barry Douglas and gives numerous recitals, above all in America where he is well known in all the major chamber music venues.
